Corrections Policy
At KeloNews, we strive for 100% accuracy in every story we publish. However, news is a fast-moving field, and despite our rigorous fact-checking process, errors can sometimes occur. When they do, we are committed to correcting them promptly, clearly, and transparently.
1. Our Commitment to Transparency
We do not “quietly” fix significant factual errors. If a story is corrected, we believe our readers have a right to know what was changed, why it was changed, and when the update occurred. Our goal is to maintain the integrity of the historical record while providing the most accurate information available.
2. Types of Corrections
A. Factual Corrections
If we misstate a fact, name, date, or figure, we will:
Correct the information within the body of the article immediately.
Append a clear Correction Note to the article (usually at the top or bottom) explaining the error and the correct information.
Include a timestamp of when the correction was made.
B. Clarifications
Sometimes, the facts in a story are technically accurate, but the wording may be misleading or lack necessary context. In these cases, we will issue a Clarification to ensure the reader has a full and fair understanding of the topic.
C. Minor Typos and Grammar
For minor errors that do not change the meaning of the story such as spelling, punctuation, or formatting we may fix the error without a formal correction note.
3. Breaking News & Updates
For developing stories and breaking news, information often changes rapidly.
Updates: We will add new information as it becomes available, clearly marked with an “Update” tag and timestamp.
Developing Stories: We may use a “Developing” label to inform readers that the facts are still being verified in real-time.
4. Social Media & External Platforms
If an error is published on our social media channels (X/Twitter, Facebook, etc.), we will:
Post a corrected update or a reply to the original post.
If the error is severe, we may delete the original post and issue a fresh one with a note explaining the correction to prevent further spread of misinformation.
5. How to Report an Error
